  1. What is PO Carton Consolidation?
PO Carton Consolidation is the combination of multiple purchase orders into one carton. The orders must have the same store location and overlapping shipping windows. This will result in fewer cartons handled throughout the pipeline (see example below). Macy's, Inc. is now able to consolidate multiple department combinations and encourages vendors to do so where the opportunity exists.

  4. Can I do PO Carton Consolidation with my current Warehouse Management System (WMS)?
You should evaluate your WMS to determine if modifications are required to support this enhanced process.

 
  5. What are the 856 ship notice (EDI) requirements for PO Carton Consolidation?
Updated 856 mapping and label requirements were communicated in Fall 2003. All PO's in the carton and the Master Shipment ID must be displayed on the UCC128 label. For more detailed requirements, click here for EDI/Advanced Ship Notice Requirements.

 
  6. Will PO Carton Consolidation impact how I trade EDI documents with Macy's, Inc.?

  10. When will Macy's, Inc. be requiring PO Carton Consolidation?
Macy's, Inc. completed its systems enhancements in Spring 2004. We believe that the benefits will be mutual for both Macy's, Inc. and you. Click here for Eligible Departments by FOB. As with all other standards, we will provide detailed timing information in our Vendor Standards Manual as it becomes available.

 
  11. Will POCC impact the way I request volume shipments on MACYSNET?
Effective 2/28/04, MacysNet Shipping will no longer require you to break out the number of cartons, cube and weight by PO when you request a pickup. Instead, you will be asked to give the total carton count, cube and weight for the entire shipment (total for all purchase orders).
